Buenos Aires Mountain Resort.
MA-AO NEGROS At the turn of century, and when the mountains and upper hills in Negros were still covered
by tropical forests, General Araneta surveyed a five hectare jungle area in the fresh mountain air with an elevation of about
500 meters above sea level. In the late 20s, the place was developed into a resort, and a Japanese gardener took care of the
gardens. For President Manuel L. Quezon, Buenos Aires was also a refuge before he left with his family to Australia. Neglect
and lack of maintenance brought about the natural death of the resort, until the City of Bago acquired the area from Maria
Araneta Matti, granddaughter of the revolutionary leader, and with some financial support from the Department of Tourism,
the city government started with its renovation. The resort was reopened with a farmer's training center, hotel,
restaurant, cottages, shedhouses, pavillons and three swimming pools. A nearby nature idyll to the resort is Kipot
Twin Falls, with a stairway leading to a small lake in which two cascades fresh and cool mountain water.
